DREAMING: The man appears to be operating is some sort of dream world. He still believes that through his oratory he can make the world move and the waters rise – despite echoing the same theme about class warfare over and over again, even as that has been widely rejected.  He holds to the view that borrowing, taxing and spending, and expanding the federal government exponentially will save the nation – despite the fact that each job his $700-plus stimulus package supposedly saved cost $250.000 per spot. The Hill newspaper says his staff is “smiling” because they believe they can pull a Harry Truman and blame the Republican Congress for the common cold – despite the fact that Obama controlled both Houses for two years and along with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi together cut the heart out of America and threw it away. He still believes he’s getting great press -- despite the fact that nobody believes the media anymore when it comes to the President – Chris Mathews twitching leg notwithstanding. Here’s where you say “what planet is he on?”

PANTHEON: The pantheon of disasters is mounting so fast it makes the head spin. After demanding an appearance before a joint session of Congress and fumbling the scheduling, Obama demanded dozens of times “pass this bill now,” although there was no bill submitted for another week. He demanded the passage of free trade legislation that the White House had forgotten for months to submit. Then he went on the road to press for his plan, saying “If you love me. Pass the bill now.” That’s not likely to work with his approval ratings under 40%. Even large numbers of Democratic lawmakers in Congress say the $400 billion jobs bill, in reality a second ‘stimulus” give-away to unions and unionized construction workers and federal employees is dead on arrival.

Reaction was so negative he felt compelled to give yet another speech demanding that the “rich” pay their fair share, when over half the country pays no taxes at all and the top percentage pays the lion’s share already and the “big corporations” now pay the highest corporate tax rates in the world. Then he jetted off to New York for a Park Avenue fundraiser dinner at $35,000 a pop, for his already at-full-steam re-election campaign. Having increased the national debt to astronomical proportions in three years, driven unemployment to near record levels, and gleefully having shattered the American spirit, he now wants you to give him four more years to complete the destruction.

GREAT IRONY: The funniest part of Obama’s demise is that the leftwing “progressives,” are enraged that he has been too accommodating and not just come out and jailed those that still have jobs. They accuse him of being too timid in negotiations with Republicans. Yet From January 2009 through 2010, Obama advanced the liberal dream with a passion not seen since the New Deal days of Franklin Roosevelt. He bulldozed all opposition and rammed through most of what he wanted with the help of a Democratic Congress: Obama care, record borrowing, record spending, and hundreds of hard-left presidential appointees and judges

Obama has been the most stridently liberal President in American history. Victor Davis Hanson notes that Obama rammed through on a strictly partisan vote the century-old liberal dream of a federal takeover of health care -- something that Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, and Bill Clinton never could do. “Keynesians never dreamed that a president could actually borrow $5 trillion for domestic spending in less than three years,” Hanson says. The Obama administration even tried to shut down a brand-new Boeing aircraft plant on the shaky argument that the company must thereby be hiring fewer union workers somewhere. For environmentalists, Obama kept oil producers out of new fields in Alaska, the American West, the Gulf, and other offshore sites. Hundreds of billions in borrowed federal money went to failed “wind and solar” plants in an disasterously failed effort to jump-start “millions of green jobs.”

INSIDIOUS: “The Obama revolution that occurred under the radar was even more insidious,” Hanson continues. Open-borders activists were promised that the government would not bother illegal aliens unless they were wanted for felonies. Never before has the United States joined a foreign government in suing one of its own states — in the way that the Justice Department and Mexico have either filed or joined suits seeking to overturn Arizona’s immigration law. Far from being namby-pamby, Obama has gone after opponents like no president since Richard Nixon.

He urged Hispanics to “punish our enemies.” He called his political opponents “hostage takers.” The affluent were lumped together with the super-rich and derided as “millionaires and billionaires,” “corporate-jet owners,” and “fat cat” bankers. His supporters in unions and the Congressional Black Caucus freely blasted the Tea Party with slurs — with the unspoken assurance that the president’s constant calls for civility certainly did not apply to them. Now he has AttackWatch.com which encourages Americans to turn in their neighbors if they don’t support the White House – something Stalin would think twice about.

EVEN BIG LABOR: Certainly at least, he should be able to count on his labor allies. But even labor leaders fret they've gotten a poor return on the $400 million they spent to elect Democrats in 2008. Unions will reduce contributions to Democrats in 2012, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said Aug. 25. How vigorously unions support Mr. Obama depends on whether he abandons his current strategy of promoting "little nibbly things," Trumka said. Jimmy Hoffa Jr. and Vice President Joe Biden demean the presidency by calling foes “Barbadians” and traitors.

COFFIN CORNER: That is not exactly helping him with other voters. Hoffa, the Teamsters president, (his father is rumored to buried by the mafia in the end-zone coffin corner of Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands) was warming up a Detroit crowd when he said: “President Obama, this is your army, and we are ready to march. Everybody here’s got a vote. If we keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these sons of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong.” And Obama has repeatedly refused to object to that and other incendiary comments by his allies that Tea Party activists “go straight to hell” and even by lynched.

MAINSTREAM: But mainstream voters recognize the liberal “achievements” and they aren’t happy at all. The public is boiling over chronic 9 percent unemployment, a comatose housing market, escalating food and fuel prices, near-nonexistent economic growth, a gyrating stock market, record deficits, $16 trillion in aggregate debt, and a historic credit downgrading. Obama’s popularity has plummeted. Suddenly, Democrats worry that the public anger could be contagious. It might infect them as well -- in the way a sinking George W. Bush hurt congressional Republicans up for reelection in 2006

A mostly moderate-to-conservative public has concluded that it does not like the new liberal agenda. After three years, it believes that the big government/big borrowing medicine made the inherited illness far worse. Voters may or may not like Obama, but they surely do not like what he is still trying to do.

PUBLIC EMPLOYEES: This week, the United Autoworkers, who Obama gave Government Motors (GM) to, threatened to strike against themselves, and then paid each other a $5,000 bonus not to walk out – based on inheritable union cards. It now costs GM about $7,000 more per unit to build a car than it costs Mercedes in Alabama. Private sector union membership has gone down to 7% over the last 30 years, while public sector unionization has climbed to over 35%. They all donate to Obama. Every federal employee and every regulation he can add, improves the Democratic Party financial base – and he’ll do it even if it destroys the capitalist system.  And he blames Republicans for playing politics.

Milton Friedman famously wrote that “the only relevant test of the validity of a hypothesis is comparison of its predictions with experience.” The Obama administration infamously prophesied that failure to pass the original stimulus would send the unemployment rate above eight percent. It ultimately eclipsed ten percent, and has remained above nine percent for all but a few months of Barack Obama’s presidency. Now he wants more of the same. Albert Einstein once said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Obama and his progressive friends appear to be evolving from incompetent to crazy.
